Mt. Fuji with early signs of spring

Did you read the article headlined “Nature’s first green is gold” that appeared in the Jan. 28 issue? I was impressed by the flowers in the picture that went with the article, so I decided to visit the area by train to see for myself.

The photo of yellow blossoms of rape plants against the backdrop of a snow-covered Mt. Fuji was taken at Azumayama Park in Ninomiya, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the morning of Jan. 29. The town government said the blossoms are expected to bloom until about the end of this month.
