The Tama Reien cemetery, which straddles the cities of Fuchu and Koganei in Tokyo, is one of eight metropolitan government-run cemeteries and a good place to take a break while cycling because you can enjoy a nice breeze in the shade of the leafy trees. The graves of quite a number of famous people can be found here, including Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira, writer Yukio Mishima and artist Taro Okamoto.

At the grave site of Taro Okamoto, also the final resting place of his parents Ippei and Kanoko, two of Okamoto’s works can be seen. One is his own tomb, and the other is that of his father.
