The Yomiuri Shimbun Members of the Japanese Olympic team held a press conference in Tokyo following their return from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a record 41 medals — 12 golds, eight silvers and 21 bronzes.
One by one, 55 medalists spoke to the press Wednesday about the Rio Games and expressed their gratitude to supporters. Three medalists were absent.
“I was able to win gold medals thanks to the public’s support. I’ll do my best for 2020,” said Kohei Uchimura, 27. Uchimura won two gold medals — one in the men’s team gymnastics and another in the individual all-around.
