[Movie] Himawari-9 separates after successful H-2A rocket launch

The Yomiuri ShimbunThe Himawari-9 meteorological satellite separated from an H-2A rocket after the successful launch from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagashima Prefecture on Nov. 2. The separation of the satellite from the H-2A Launch Vehicle No. 31 took place as planned at an altitude of about 260 kilometers about 28 minutes after liftoff. The satellite is expected to enter geostationary orbit at an altitude of about 35,800 kilometers around Nov. 11. The Himawari-9 is one of two satellites of its kind, alongside Himawari-8, which was put into operational orbit last year. The rocket launch was conducted by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. [Released on Nov. 4, 2016]
