Abe to make visit to Indonesia in Jan.

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Thursday that he will visit Indonesia during his trip to Australia and Southeast Asian nations from next week.

Japan will “seek to play a leading role for the peace and prosperity of the region,” Abe said at a liaison meeting between the government and the ruling camp, explaining his aim for the tour. “I will stress the significance of major Asia-Pacific nations working together.”

Abe will hold talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit to the nation, which has the largest population and economy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The series of summits Abe will hold through the trip is expected to focus on regional security cooperation.Speech
