Guterres agrees on UNSC reform need

Jiji Press NEW YORK (Jiji Press) — Vice Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama and New U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres agreed on Friday on a need to reform the U.N. Security Council.

In their meeting at the U.N. headquarters in New York, Guterres told Sugiyama that it is natural for the Security Council to be reformed as its composition has been unchanged for half a century, according to the Japanese official.

Guterres showed his intention to focus Security Council reform on operations related to peace and security, development and management.
