The Japan NewsANA InterContinental Tokyo will offer the taste of spring, with a seasonal twist of cherry blossoms, during its Sakura Festival from March 15 through April 16.
At Unkai, the hotel’s traditional Japanese restaurant on the third floor, a special seasonal lunch menu called Hanagoromo will be served in a jubako box meal style for hanami cherry blossom viewing, with such ingredients as sawara Spanish mackerel, hotaruika firefly squid, takenoko bamboo shoots and fukinoto butterbur sprouts. The lunch is priced at ¥5,200, excluding the 8 percent consumption tax and a 12 percent service charge. The restaurant, which faces a Japanese-style garden with a large pond illuminated at night, will also serve a dinner menu of Hanaakari featuring sakuradai red sea bream and sakuraebi small shrimps, priced at ¥16,700.
Atrium Lounge on the second floor will offer a Sakura High Tea Set of 10 cherry pink petit gateau, two sandwiches and a scone, served with a drink chosen from among more than 20 varieties of coffee and tea, including herbal tea and flavored tea. The set will be served from noon to 6 p.m. for ¥3,800.
On the same floor, Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux will offer cakes, breads and other sweets inspired by cherry blossoms. Open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., there will be sakura anpan (sake-infused bread filled with sakura-flavored red bean paste) for ¥450 (four pieces), sakura financier cake for ¥300, sakura-flavored white chocolate mousse for ¥600, sakura eclair for ¥600 and sakura macaron for ¥280. These prices include consumption tax, and no service charge will be added.
In the evening, at the Champagne Bar on the third floor, the Sakura Bubbles set offers an all-you-can-drink menu including three rose champagnes — from Taittinger, Moet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot — for a two-hour seating, along with three food items, for ¥10,000 (including consumption tax and service charge).
Near the hotel is a one-kilometer row of about 210 Someiyoshino cherry trees. On nights when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, the trees will be illuminated.
