Producer prices up 1.0%

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Japanese producer prices rose at their fastest pace in 30 months in February on higher prices for crude oil and other commodities and the yen’s fall, the Bank of Japan said Monday.

The produce price index rose 1.0 percent from a year before to 97.9 against 100 for the base year of 2015, the central bank said in a preliminary report.

The report showed that prices for 271 of the 746 items covered increased, while those for 399 declined.
