Crown prince leaves for Malaysia

Jiji PressTOKYO (Jiji Press) — Crown Prince Naruhito left Tokyo on Thursday for an official visit to Malaysia to mark this year’s 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the visit, the crown prince is scheduled to visit University of Malaya, one of the base facilities to promote Malaysia’s Look East Policy, which looks to East Asia, in particular Japan, as a model of economic development.

Under the policy, Malaysia has sent students to Japan not only to study and acquire technical expertise but also learn the work ethics and discipline of the Japanese people.

Crown Prince Naruhito also plans to take a firsthand look at a flood damage control tunnel that he mentioned in his keynote address to a special session of the U.N. General Assembly on Water and Disasters in 2015.
