Japan’s holdings of U.S. securities still top

Jiji Press WASHINGTON (Jiji Press) — Japan remained the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasury securities for the fifth straight month in February, the U.S. Treasury Department said Monday.

Japan’s holdings grew to $1,115.1 billion as of the end of February from $1,102.5 billion a month before.

China came in second with $1,059.7 billion, up from $1,051.1 billion.

Foreign residents boosted their net acquisitions of long-term U.S. securities to $35.9 billion in February from $14.8 billion the previous month.
