[Movie] Prototype of a robot arm to remove nuclear fuel debris

The Yomiuri ShimbunA prototype robot arm for removing melted nuclear fuel debris that has fallen from a reactor core at Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.’s Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant was shown to the media on April 25 at a factory in Kobe. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. developed the 7.1-meter arm, which is made of aluminum, moves its six joints by using oil pressure and motors, and can handle up to two tons.
