Japan ambassador to Bulgaria quits

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — The government on Friday approved the resignation of Ambassador to Bulgaria Shinichi Yamanaka, who was reprimanded earlier this year over the education ministry’s illegal job-brokering practice for retiring officials.

A former vice education minister, Yamanaka had informed Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida of his intention to resign as ambassador to Bulgaria.

In its final report on the “ama-kudari” practice released in March, the education ministry pointed out that Yamanaka had a huge responsibility as former vice minister over the ministry’s systematic involvement in the job hunting of retiring officials.Speech
