Pikotaro video publicizes U.N. goals

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Musician Pikotaro on Wednesday visited the Foreign Ministry to publicize a video he created to promote public awareness of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.

“I want many people to get interested in the SDGs,” Pikotaro, known for his hit tune “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen,” or “PPAP,” said at a meeting with Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.

Pikotaro made the video at the request of the ministry.

In the video, Pikotaro introduces the 17 SDGs, including “no poverty” and “zero hunger,” to the rhythm of PPAP.

“I’d like to improve awareness of SDGs on the back of the popularity of Pikotaro,” Kishida said. The video can be viewed on YouTube.Speech
