[Movie] Can urine manipulate behavior of stray cats?

The Yomiuri ShimbunAn experiment using urine to attract stray cats has been conducted by a group of researchers at Iwate University. Urinary extract from a cat was attached to pieces of paper attached to the middle of a transparent acrylic sheet. This video shows a cat leave without making a urine or fecal marking after sniffing the urinary extract, suggesting that the extract’s presence prevents such behavior. The experiment was also designed to survey feline populations by obtaining video footage of cats in frontal view. [Released on August 31, 2017]
