2017 Lower House Election / Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi govs to meet

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike said Friday she will have talks with the governors of Osaka and Aichi prefectures on Saturday.

Koike, Ichiro Matsui of Osaka and Hideaki Omura of Aichi will hold a joint press conference after their talks in the city of Osaka, according to sources linked to Nippon Ishin no Kai, the opposition party headed by Matsui.

They are expected to discuss how they can cooperate in the Oct. 22 election of the House of Representatives.

Nippon Ishin, based in Osaka, is exploring the possibility of not fielding candidates in constituencies where candidates of Kibo no To (Party of Hope) are running.

Regarding cooperation with Kibo no To, Matsui has said, “If we have the same policies, there is no need to be hostile toward each other.”

At a news conference on Friday, Koike said her party shares the view of Nippon Ishin on reforms. “I want to value the same ambition for reforms,” she added.Speech
