4 Japanese tourists killed in Thai crash

Jiji PressBANGKOK (Jiji Press) — A van carrying four Japanese tourists and a Thai guide crashed into a truck in Ayutthaya, Thailand, on Wednesday, leaving the five people dead and the van’s driver in critical condition, according to local police and other sources.

The accident occurred at around 3:40 p.m. local time. The Japanese tourists were apparently on their way from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, after arriving in the Southeast Asian country on Tuesday.

The four are Katsuhiko Narimoto, 65, Haruka Narimoto, 30, Kumiko Komeima, 59, and Yoshio Komeima, 68.

The truck’s driver has claimed that the van was coming at a furious speed when the truck was turning left, according to the sources.
