3 bodies found off Yamagata

Jiji Press YAMAGATA (Jiji Press) — Three bodies were found in a coastal area in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, on Monday.

Wooden boats possibly from North Korea were found washed ashore in the city on Nov. 21 and on Saturday. Authorities, including the Japan Coast Guard’s office in Sakata in the same prefecture facing the Sea of Japan, are investigating a potential link between the bodies and the boats.

According to the coast guard office, a fishing boat recovered one of the bodies, which was drifting near a port in the Atsumi district in Tsuruoka, around 7:20 a.m. Later in the morning, the other two bodies were found ashore nearby.

All three bodies were wearing life jackets, officials said.Speech
