[Movie] White walls

The Yomiuri ShimbunDaikon radishes are dried in the sun in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture. They will be pickled in brine to become takuan-zuke, a local specialty. These “white walls” at the western foot of Mt. Hakone are a seasonal sight in the region, with the vegetables hung up for about a week before being pickled and then shipped at the end of the year. The walls of daikon can be viewed until the middle of December. [Released on December 13, 2017]
