No prefecture for slow men

The Yomiuri Shimbun

The Yomiuri Shimbun Men compete in the annual fuku otoko (men of fortune) race at Nishinomiya Shrine in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, on Wednesday. As soon as the shrine’s main gate opened at 6 a.m., about 5,000 men dashed along an about 230-meter path to its main hall, aiming to become one of this year’s fuku otoko, an honor given only to the first three runners.Speech
