MGM Resorts sets sights on Osaka

Jiji Press OSAKA (Jiji Press) — James Murren, chairman and chief executive officer of major U.S. casino operator MGM Resorts International, on Tuesday expressed the firm’s hope to open an integrated resort in Osaka.

MGM Resorts intends to set up a consortium led by Japanese companies to operate an integrated resort featuring Japanese tradition and culture.

While emphasizing at a press conference in Osaka that MGM is operating 27 resort facilities in the world, Murren cited the city’s advantages, such as its rich food culture and good accessibility to many tourist spots.

Murren said he is keen to develop a resort facility in Osaka and make it a global information hub.

Osaka Prefecture and the city of Osaka aim to invite an integrated resort to Yumeshima, an artificial island off the city.
