Bingo-kasuri is a type of traditional Japanese artisanal textile dating back to the Edo period (1603-1867). A form of weaving in which beautiful patterns are formed through the crossover of resist-dyed portions of warp and weft threads, bingo-kasuri requires an exceptionally advanced level of weaving technique. Here, a new and unique form of high-quality denim fabric has been created using these traditional bingo-kasuri weaving methods. The denim painstakingly woven in this manner is then incorporated into patchwork details, creating shirts and T-shirts that are full of originality. All stages of the production, from the design to the cutting and sewing, are handled by local craftspeople in workshops that have inherited the bingo-kasuri traditions of old. As the patchwork is carried out after the denim cloth has been hand-processed in various ways, including washing cloth that has been dyed in the yarn, every shirt created is unique and one-of-a-kind. Sizes include S/M/L for women.
