Travelers’ Treasures / 3-D relief box

Lightweight, relatively flameproof and possessing natural insect-repellant and antibacterial properties, paulownia wood has been much used in Japan since ancient times to create containers for clothing, foodstuffs, condiments and the like. This 3-D relief box is an interior item which makes the most of these superb functional qualities of paulownia wood, taking the concept of such wooden boxes to an entirely new level of quality which deserves appreciation as a work of art. Created by a traditional craftsperson from Japan-sourced paulownia wood, these boxes use superb three-dimensional relief carving and exquisitely detailed colors to portray ukiyo-e woodblock print images, a proud tradition of Japanese art. This interior item is truly a work of contemporary art, giving the viewer a glimpse into a special Japanese esthetic that integrates advanced technology with the traditional arts that Japan boasts, all in harmony with the naturally warm touch that comes from wood. The size of the box is 100mm x 100mm x 100mm. Boxes can also be made to order based on customers’ requests.
