The Japan News A preliminary magnitude-5.8 earthquake with an epicenter in western Shimane Prefecture occurred at around 1:32 a.m. on Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
An intensity of upper 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 was felt in the city of Oda. A lower 5 was registered in the eastern part of the prefecture, while a 4 was recorded in western Tottori Prefecture, southern Okayama Prefecture, northern and southeastern Hiroshima Prefecture and eastern Ehime Prefecture.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
Western Shimane Prefecture was also hit by a preliminary magnitude-4.4 quake at 1:43 a.m., a preliminary magnitude-4.7 jolt at 1:56 a.m., a preliminary magnitude-4.8 tremor at 2:10 a.m. and a preliminary magnitude-4.6 quake at 5:05 a.m.
