Premier tells Diet his intentions

Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed hope on Monday to hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump soon before or after a U.S.-North Korea summit set for June 12.

At a meeting of the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives, Abe indicated that he wants to exchange views with Trump, who is slated to hold talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, on how to respond to issues involving North Korea.

Abe stopped short of clarifying whether Trump will visit Japan after his talks with Kim, saying Japan plans to make coordination with the United States.Speech
