Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Honda Motor Co.’s N-Box minivehicle topped the nation’s new automobile sales rankings for the 11th straight month in July, industry data showed Monday.
Sales of the N-Box totaled 19,668 units, up 35.6 percent from a year before.
Demand has been brisk for minivehicles with advanced driving support systems and eco-friendly subcompact cars, according to the data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Light Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Association.
Including the N-Box, minivehicles, with engine displacements of up to 660 cc, captured six of the top 10 slots.
Of them, Suzuki Motor Corp.’s Spacia ranked second, with sales of 11,843 units, up 44.9 percent, and Nissan Motor Co.’s Dayz third, with sales of 11,703 units, down 3.6 percent.
The Spacia maintained its position from the preceding month, while the Dayz jumped from seventh in June.
In July, three models returned to the top 10 list.
