The Yomiuri Shimbun An annual English presentation contest for university students in Japan is being jointly organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and The Japan News. Four winning “student ambassadors” will be chosen to serve as bridges between Hong Kong and Japan.
Applications for the Hong Kong Cup All Japan University Student Ambassadors English Programme 2018-2019 must be submitted by Dec. 10 using the application form on the program’s website:
Participants will deliver a presentation on one of three themes: “Introducing a Hong Kong product/food/service/custom to Japan,” “Joint school event or program to promote cultural exchanges,” and “Hong Kong tour program for Japanese university students.”
Fifteen students will be selected to participate in the final round scheduled for Jan. 19 at KDDI Hall in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. The finalists will each deliver a six-minute presentation with visual aids, to be followed by a three-minute question-and-answer session with a panel of judges.
As student ambassadors, the top four winners will be invited on a two-week Hong Kong trip to study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and get to know the city.
They will also be awarded an internship at a Hong Kong-related organization in Japan or at The Japan News for up to two weeks.
