ROK president talks AI with Softbank

Jiji Press SEOUL (Jiji Press) — South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Masayoshi Son, leader of Japanese technology conglomerate Softbank Group Corp., discussed on Thursday the development of artificial intelligence industries.

At their meeting, held at the Blue House presidential office in Seoul, Son, chairman and chief executive officer of Softbank, told Moon that South Korea needs to focus on AI, according to the office.

He also proposed that the South Korean government should support the development of related industries from all aspects including education, investment and budget.

Moon asked Softbank to invest in South Korean start-ups and help them advance into the global market utilizing the group’s huge network.

Son readily accepted a request from Moon for Softbank’s support in fostering South Korean AI experts.Speech
