4 Chinese ships intrude into waters around Senkakus

Jiji Press NAHA (Jiji Press) — Four Chinese Coast Guard ships entered Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture on Wednesday.

It was the first such intrusion by a Chinese government ship since June 17 and the 19th this year.

The Chinese ships — the Haijing 2146, the Haijing 2305, the Haijing 2308 and the Haijing 33115 — entered Japanese waters north-northeast of Kubajima island in the Senkaku chain between around 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., according to the Japan Coast Guard’s 11th regional headquarters in Naha.

The ships left Japanese waters west-northwest of the island between around 11:35 a.m. and 11:55 a.m.
