Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Used vehicle sales in Japan in January-June fell 0.3 percent from a year earlier to 1.98 million units, hitting the fourth-lowest level on a first-half basis, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Wednesday.
The first-half sales were down for the second consecutive year.
Sales of passenger cars edged up 0.2 percent to 1.74 million units. Sales of cars with an engine displacement of over 2,000 cc grew 3.6 percent, up for the fifth straight year, but sales of smaller cars fell 3.8 percent as the number of new models was limited in the category.
Truck sales were down 3.6 percent at 189,826 units. Sales of buses fell 4.7 percent to 6,976 units.
