Jiji Press SINGAPORE (Jiji Press) — The Japan National Tourism Organization and Singapore Airlines, or SIA, have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the promotion of tourism to Japan.
Under the agreement signed on Thursday, the JNTO and SIA will cooperate in marketing and other activities to increase the number of visitors to Japan from Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia.
Investment on marketing totaling some ¥50 million is planned for fiscal 2019, which ends in March 2020.
The two sides will work closely to achieve the government’s goal of welcoming 40 million visitors to Japan in 2020.
“Through this partnership with SIA, we hope to boost the number of visitors to Japan not only from Singapore but from all over Asia and the other regions including those who transit in Singapore,” JNTO Executive Vice President Akira Ninagawa said in a statement.Speech
