The Yomiuri ShimbunFUKUOKA — A huge 3D artwork appears to be protruding from a 20-meter-high wall at the commercial facility Marinoa City Fukuoka in Nishi Ward, Fukuoka.
The complex shapes drawn in white, green and yellow look three-dimensional. The mysterious work is attracting the attention of shoppers at the outlet mall.
The artwork is painted on an outside wall, measuring about 400 square meters, of an indoor sports and athletic facility that will open Sept. 14. At the request of the Marinoa side, a 38-year-old Italian graffiti artist has been producing this since late July. It will be completed soon.
The new facility will have 16 attractions, including sports like climbing and bouldering.
“I wanted to create a work that makes you feel as if you can run up into the sky,” the artist said.
