Jiji Press TOKYO (Jiji Press) — The Justice Ministry plans to make legal changes to allow procedures for setting up a company to be completed online, officials said.
The ministry will submit legislation to the Diet early next year, aiming to put the changes in place in February 2021.
The measure is expected to reduce related paperwork, the officials said.
The ministry also plans to shorten the time for completing the incorporation procedure to 24 hours or less, down from the up to three-day period at present, through a registration system overhaul.
Currently, people need to submit documents to register the seal of the companies to be formed. The documents must be submitted in person to a local legal affairs bureau. Under the ministry’s plan, electronic documents will be accepted, enabling people to complete procedures solely online.Speech
